@SalishSea not really trying to jump in front of anyone, just trying to understand what options are available when there's no transparency around timelines. If delays are indefinite, it feels like there's no other way to move things forward.

  1. This is true with the ENTIRE immigration process. Another VJ user @OldUser posted this video earlier this week. https://youtu.be/HyOTqzPmpvo?si=157GybJ2fS61jIEs. There is no transparency anywhere...

@appleblossom Fair point, but it's not like the consulate is handing out a playbook on what's "normal" or who's next. We have an "idea" but it's ultimately at their discretion.

It’s fairly simple, those eligible for interviews are scheduled in date order, with immediate relatives given priority. It’s just a case of waiting for your turn. Unlike all the other parts of the process that are clearly laid out step by step and timescales given for each, the stage between DQ and IL does vary depending on the consulate and their current backlog, but you can get an idea of current timescales by searching the forum.

Good luck.

Thanks, but saying ‘just wait your turn’ feels like a cop-out when the consulate provides zero transparency or accountability. Forums only go so far—how are people supposed to trust the process with a lack of transparency?

Who trusts the process?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

It’s not the consulate anyway, your interview is scheduled by NVC. The whole process is very transparent and the wait for the interview is the only variable in it which is pretty good really. I remember waiting more than 5 years for a Canadian visa with no info or timescale at all for any of it!

But there’s not really any way for NVC to give a timescale for this stage, unlike all of the other stages this bit varies hugely by consulate and how many people are DQ’ed each month.

Good luck.

@Boiler it appears to me that the monetary aspect of the process is a hurdle to you. For some like pfons it doesn’t seem to be the case. So why have a focus on that?

We don’t know that’s not the case though. Pfons may be scraping together his life savings in the hope of a WOM speeding things up, so telling him that it’ll just be chucking money down the drain is pretty good advice I think.

Boiler is long done with the immigration process btw.

I’m not saying I trust the process. But it’s easy for you to dismiss the frustration when you’re not the one currently stuck in this broken system. Stop pretending like waiting around for who knows how long is just ‘how it works’—it’s a mess, and you’re ignoring that reality.

Expedites are possible, that may be a more realistic option.

I get that you think it’s all on NVC, but the consulate, not NVC, controls the number of interviews they schedule each month. Calling the process ‘transparent’ doesn’t make sense when there’s no clear communication about how or when appointments are allocated. It’s not just about waiting—it’s about a system that doesn’t provide any accountability.

Ever since  Judge ruled that 15 months was not a long time to be in AP. WOM have been getting tossed out like candy. They haven't been helping any more, except for those ppl who were already past that time.  I doubt trying to get a WOM to work on NVC is going to help at all.

Be that as it may. However, someone can come here with an honest question whilst having the means to cover any monetary obstacles. Seems kind of rude to tell someone they are throwing their money away. When in fact that person is doing it for the hope of trying to buy time to spend time with their loved ones.
