They asked me if my stepmother and father had a child together I said yes They asked me if I had their birth certificate with me I said no they also asked me if my biological parents were divorced I said yes and they proceeded to ask me for their divorce certificate which I didn’t bring after that they gave me that 221g asking me to submit those documents via ceac or at an authorized courier service. I did both

But what kind of visa are you applying for? If it's spousal then those documents aren't usually needed so it looks like they're doing extra background checks. If it's a visa where you're a dependent on your parents visa application and those documents were to be expected then that's different.

Just to set expectations for @Sah006, it's usually a short processing time if it's just a missing original doc that they've already seen via CEAC or something like that.

But if it's  'proper' admin processing with more detailed background checks it can take a lot longer, even a year or more. It's not clear which visa route @Sah006 is going down (please do fill in your timelines people!), so not sure if the documents relating to his/her family members are for extra background checks though, or just documents that should have been provided and were missing.

Where do we fill in our timelines?

On your profile. It would be hugely appreciated if you could take 5 mins to do it - pay it forward and help those who follow, the more data we have the better for all forum users. It also means that when you ask a question people know which visa route and which consulate you're asking about, so it's easier for you to receive answers.

Thank you!
