Hi everyone - My wife (sponsor, US Citizen) and myself (Italian, benefeciary) have applied for the I-130 through the CR1. We have "just" started this long process however I have interviewed with a company in the US and they might make an offer. My question is: if they make an offer, can I use that offer to apply for an expedition? Would that help?

Fyi: California Service Center

Thank you everyone!

Thanks for your feedback! Why would they need to sponsor me? As the end of the CR1 process gives me full right to work etc. probably am I missing something?

Certainly, but is the company willing to wait for 12-24 months for you to get your spousal visa before you start working, or will this be a remote job you can start while awaiting the process.  Job offers for the immigrant spouse can help when someone comes over on a K1 and is awaiting employment authorization, but a job offer may not mean much in pushing your I130 along.  All you can do is request one.

The reason I ask if the company is willing to sponsor you is sometimes that is a faster route.

Good Luck!

Thank you, now is more clear. So just in order to be sure I understood; the company can sponsor me while I am waiting for my I-130 and at the same time I could work from the US (or remote, but it's not my case)? And then, once I get my spousal visa it will simply adjust from sponso -> green card holder? Thank you again!

Just to clarify, once you get your spousal visa you will enter the US as a green card holder, there is no adjustment of status.

Good Luck!

It is unusual for an employer to wait 18 months or so, perhaps if this is a very specialist job.

How did the interview go, what are their expectations?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

That's exactly my point. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to accelarate the process. Interview went well, and they asked me if I could understand  if a written job offer would accelerate the process. This is what I am trying to understand. Hpe it's clear & tahnk you for the help!

No to that, fail to see the connection.

Highly unlikely, but you can certainly try for an expedite.

If it's not granted, then I'd wait to apply for any more jobs until you're much further along in the process.

Good luck.

I agree, a job offer for the intending immigrant is highly unlikely to be the basis for an I130/NVC/Consulate expedite unless you can show a definitive and severe financial loss to the company.

Good Luck!
