Hello all,

Thank you always for any advice you can give. Like the title says I just received an email from the NVC that my wife's IR-1 Visa for the Philippines has been approved for expedited processing. Here is a quote from the email below:

"The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in MANILA, PHIL approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your immigrant visa application to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in MANILA, PHIL for their action. The Embassy/Consulate General will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview."

What's strange is I never filed for it to be expedited. Also, how soon should I expect them to contact me regarding the interview schedule? Thank you so much!

I would not expect a whole lot as the expedites only apply to the stage you are currently at.  You said you are at the NVC stage, so maybe it will get the petition to the consulate faster, but then you will wait for an interview timeslot to become available.

Good Luck!

It's standard, Manila does it every few months, basically 'expedite' a bunch of cases for interview but they're not actually expedited - no idea why they do it that way when no other consulate does! Have a hunt around the forum and you'll find tons of others that were expedited at the same time.

Good luck.

This is one of US Embassy Manila's so called "mass expedites" where they send out a bunch of unrequested approved expedites as a way of repurposing the expedite system to allow visa applicants to self-schedule interviews.  It is confirmed they sent out a large batch yesterday.  The Embassy may or may not e-mail you with actual instructions but don't wait for them.  They are not consistent about that.  Start checking your CEAC status and if/when it is "READY" you may proceed to try self scheduling an interview on https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/en/immigrant-visa .  You also need to schedule the medical at Saint Luke's Extension Clinic https://slec.ph/ and schedule biometrics at the new Visa Application Center.  Congratulations.  Your case is moving.

Thank you Top Secret, I appreciate the help. This is something I had no idea about, but definitely sounds like good news. I will start checking CEAC for the update.

Greetings!

Last year, both my siblings had the same email, an expedited approval, but later on, we found out that it is just expedited approval to catch up interview delays. We were very happy. Just make sure to have all documents ready and please make sure to update documents that needed to be renewed ex. NBI clearance etc. prior to her interview. Also, if you add a new document, always download all new or updated or additional documents to CEAC to avoid the hassle during her interview.

Goodluck! all documents must be ready by now. schedule all those finger printing, interview and her medical and vaccination appointment. ALL THE BEST! Stacey
