Hi everyone,

My husband and I are filling out the affidavit of support application and we have a confusion. In part 6, items 23 to 24c, we're asked about his tax returns and total income. As it says in that section, we're only required to provide the most recent year's tax return, which is what we're doing. But then below that it asks to put in total income from all three past years' total income one by one. Question is, since we're including only the most recent year's tax return, do we also fill in just one box for total income, or do we need to fill in all three years' total income each even if we don't provide the tax returns for the other two years?

Thank you anyone who takes the time to help!

Copy of the actual complete federal return or return transcript, yes.

Yes. The AMOUNTS are required for 24a, b and c for the three most recent years. You are only required to provide PROOF of the most recent year's tax return.

I recommend joining the December K1 AOS Filing thread where you can receive help for the most common questions all in one place. You can use the search function to find it.

When I filed, it was helpful to follow a few threads for the previous months filed to learn the basics.

Much luck.

You MUST provide the numbers for all 3 years if the sponsor was required to file taxes those years.  Otherwise, you must provide the reason the sponsor was not required to file a tax return.
