I checked the myProgress tab of my I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, which is a Direct Consular Filing.  The screenshot (323) is below.

It used to end at the line "This is an estimate and will be periodically updated as we process your case."  Today, for the first time, I am seeing the steps.  More importantly, there are only two steps!

Step 1 of 2 (completed):  Case received - This is normal.  Everyone has this (according to other screenshots I've seen on VisaJourney).

Step 2 of 2 (current step):  Case decision - Is this saying they USCIS is skipping straight to a decision, without biometrics or interview (or even saying that they biometrics and interview are waived)?  Would they really make a decision without contacting/involving us at all?

For comparison, the second screenshot (324), from a VisaJourney forum post, the biometrics and interview are listed as steps, even if they are eventually waived (as was the case in this post).

I don't know if this is a good sign or not.  Please advise.  Thanx!

The second screenshot is from an I-485 progress tab... There is no "interview" for the actual I-130 petition approval. The interview for your petitioning of a relative process comes later at the consulate

Yes. This is only the first step, the I-130. It's the visa application that your relative (or you, whoever is being petitioned) will be interviewed for, and that's further down the line.

As said above, you're conflating two different processes.

Thanks for answering.  Considering what you said, what "case decision" would the USCIS be referring to for Step 2?

The I-130 approval or denial.
