Passport Agency: Return of naturalization certificate

Does anyone have any recent experience with Passport Agency? Do they immediately return the original naturalization certificate or do they mail it through USPS?

Just did two weeks ago at the San Diego Passport Agency. They returned the naturalization certificate and other original documents by hand the next day when we picked up the passports.

Thank you so much. This is very useful. My wife lost her naturalization certificate because we never received it back from the passport office (they said they mailed it on October 29th). Upon inquiring, they sent a letter stating they have returned things from their end and they dont have it. I got my interview notice today and strategizing how to apply for passport after the oath so that the same thing doesn't happen to me.

Agencies are different.  When my wife applied, the agency made a copy of her certificate, and a supervisor approved the copy and the certificate was returned to my wife.

My wife just did this. Passport received separately from certificate. Certificate received via regular mail about a week after the passport arrived. Caused my wife some angst 😉

Did you elect to pick up the passport directly from the agency by will call, or did you have the passport sent to your home?  I wonder if it might make a difference just how soon planned travel is?  We showed a trip planned in just two days so for us will call was the only delivery option and the documents were there at the counter in a big blue envelope along with the passports.  If we had showed a trip in ten days then I wonder if they might have offered an express mail option that might create a difference?????
