Coming the US with my spouse

I will be flying to the US this Friday with my spouse. I am US citizens who lived abroad for 5 years and that is where I met my spouse.

My wife has a IR-1 Visa. I am wondering what the process is like when we land in the US. Should we enter the same line together and go to the immigration officer together?

Most airports have people that will help direct you to the proper line when you arrive.  You as the USC can go with your spouse, to what I believe is the visitor line in order to activate her GC.  It may take some time depending on the airport, so plan accordingly.

I suppose technically he has to be admitted first, especially after a 5 year hiatus, but they can enter together.  My hubs and I entered together with the kids when we activated my PR. I think it's more a case of a spouse entering the US solo for the first time - their petitioner has to be in the US.

First or at the same time based on my readings.  The only issue arises when the intending immigrant arrives first, I remember a story of a couple where they were both arriving on the same day, but on different flights and the immigrant spouse arrived first, it was a headache.  I do believe there are exceptions for spouse of active duty military members or contractors on official orders.

Go thru the Visitors queue together.  You shouldn't have any issues.
