Hey guys,

I just want to know more about DCF in general. How does it work and how long does it take from filing to visa issuance?

I currently have the opportunity to do an emergency filing for i-130 for my father in Cairo and I want to know what documents do I need. The only thing they stated was a birth certificate and passports.

I want to know what happens after the i-130 approval. What paperwork do I need then? I want to take everything so he will have it with him when he has his second interview.

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Well this is a new one on me, pretty sure I have never seen this asked before.

Do I understand right that you are both in Egypt and you have a short notice job move and you want to take your Father with you?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

No I’m currently in the US. My father is in Sudan. We will both come to Egypt to do this process and my father will stay there until he gets his visa.

I am a US Citizen if that helps

The US embassy in Cairo has an emergency filing for US Citizens who has family in Sudan, Gaza, Lebanon, and Tel Aviv (conflict zones)

I filed for my mother online and it took 14.5 months to get the i-130 approval

Emergency Filings of Certain Petitions: The U.S. Embassy in Cairo is currently able to accept certain emergency filings of immigrant visa I-130/I-600 petitions for immediate relatives of U.S. citizens who are normally resident in the consular districts of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Beirut and have not yet filed an immigrant visa petition with USCIS.  Only U.S. citizens physically present in Cairo may file at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo for their qualifying spouses, unmarried children under 21, adopted children, and parents who have fled these consular districts.   If your are not already in contact with the U.S. Embassy and both the petitioner and beneficiary are physically present in Cairo, please contact us here: Visa Navigator.

My mother was not an emergency filing. That was not an option at the time. So it took 14.5 months. Currently we can file 2023 taxes since 2024 cannot be filed yet.

I am a US citizen born in the US.

So I need to bring my joint sponsors documents as well?

Will I need to fill out the affidavit of support as well?

Yes they say physically present but don’t define that we must live there or have a job there. I am planning to go and bring my father to Egypt as well to do this.

I sent an email and they asked for my birth certificate and now asked to provide the entry stamp to Egypt so they can schedule the appointment.

I’m trying to prepare the paperwork needed and know more info about DCF works since I only did my spouse and my mother online.

It doesn't seem as though he qualifies for emergency filing though - as per @Boiler's post, as you say you're currently in the US? So his application will be processed via Khartoum when it gets to that point, but it'll be the same process as your mothers.

You could try to expedite the I-130 once you've filed it though, it's worth a try.

Good luck.

There is currently no embassy in Khartoum due to the war going on in Sudan, which is why they have the emergency filing for Sudanese relatives of US citizens.

I tried to an expedite for my mother but they had refused even though it was for humanitarian reasons. So we waited the 14.5 months. I would like to try this for my father since I am the only child they have and I would like them to be away from the war zone.

Sorry, typo, I meant Cairo - they're taking Khartoum cases.

You can certainly try it but as it says on the link above only US citizens resident in those particular areas are eligible for emergency filings, so you wouldn't qualify according to that if you live in the US. But give it a go, it's worth a try before you file the I-130.

Good luck.

What I understood from this is it is for US Citizens with relatives living in the areas mentioned.

As for this, it is not mentioned that I must be living in Cairo, only physically present.

Please let me know if my understanding is wrong.

I think the confusion has arisen as you said your father is in Sudan? So not normally resident in Jerusalem/Tel Aviv/Beirut?
