We believe that her passport was thrown away and incinerated (loooong story). What can we do? We have photocopies of her biographical page, I-94, and K1 visa, but now the real thing is gone. Can she get another one from the Thai Embassy?

More importantly, what will it do for her AOS and interview?

Thanks a lot!

shins,

The Thai embassy and the Thai consulate in LA have good web sites, look in one of those two places for detailed information on what needs to be done and to download the required forms.

Rodjanaa lost her passport in a move between houses. She was able to get a new one from the Thai consulate in Chicago. In addition to filling out the necessary forms the consulate required her make a police report and submit a copy of the report along with the forms. She was able to do this by mail, but I have an idea that it may be necessary to do in person now. Not sure about that.

If I recall correctly she had the new passport in time for her adjustment interview, and a photocopy of the I-94 was already in the case file (it gets submitted along with the application).

Thanks Yodrak,

We live in Illinois so we will give the Embassy in Chicago a call on Monday. Do they make a copy of the lost K1 visa or do they already have that on record (which is what I'm guessing)?

Thanks again!

Yodrak is right. A police report and a the trhai embassy should be able to issue u a new one. A few years ago, my sister luggages were lost at the airport. The Belgian anbassy ask for prove that we were indeed Belgian and a copy of the police report. Of course My sister had to pay for it but we had the new poassort in a very short time.

Good Luck,

Patricia

im not sure of this but i guess you will have to get a new copy of K-1 visa and I-94 because thats the first thing that the immigration officer will look for during the interview. try to contact USCIS about that

good luck

shins,

A photocopy of the visa is required for the adjustment application, and you wrote that you have one.

The Thai consulate in Chicago (it's not an embassy, the embassy is in Washington DC) will not have a record of the visa, if that's what you're asking.
