I am at NVC stage in Montreal, Canada.

I just uploaded all the document and submitted on my NVC portal . This occurred Dec5th 2024

1.Please what is the approximately time to Interview scheduling/interview date?

2. When will medical stage come in and what medical test result in could potentially be an hindrance /concern to the immigrant visa approval (base on medical result). ?

3, How sensible to decide to travel before Christmas to start living with my spouse in USA in order to make the process faster or rather complete it while in USA?

1. Once you're DQ'ed (processing times for that here - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html) then it's about 3 months to get an interview letter (https://ca.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visa-process/), so maybe 6 months from now as a rough guess?

2. You have to have the medical done before the interview - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html. Communicable diseases (things like TB) are the main thing, anything that is a potential threat to the US public too. Your visa will only be valid for 6 months from the date of medical though, so don't get it done too early.

3. Not possible, that would be immigration fraud. You can visit in the meantime though, but can't move until you have your visa.

Good luck.

Hello,  thanks so much and the information is detail and useful. I would like to make  a clarification , I am the only applicant and my petitioner is my spouse. I read and  looked through Pre-Interview checklist :

  • Your petitioner’s original birth certificate and a photocopy, if applicable.

Is this applicable to me?

"Is this applicable to me?", if you mean that you need to bring your spouse's original/official birth certificate, and a photocopy, then yes.

Is there a reason you think you would be exempt?

You also need to do the same with your own, see "Your original birth certificate" - make sure it is compliant by looking up the reciprocity schedule:

I was just wondering by the remark "if applicable"

Thanks @Lemonslice
