Heathrow K1 Visa Check In Query

Hi all,

 

I am travelling to the USA tomorrow and just done the online check in and entered my visa details.

 

It says I am checked in but that the travel document details I have entered aren’t valid for this flight and that the boarding pass isn’t available to print and to collect it at the airport? I have double checked the visa details to make sure that they are correct as well.

 

Is this just for the staff there to review my K1 Visa details to make sure that everything is correct? Has anyone else had the same situation before as well?

They did the same to Jaycel in Manila. They would not allow her to get her boarding pass online because she was required to check-in in person so they could make sure she had a valid visa for travel to the US

You just need to go to the visa check or check in desk, it's standard for anybody flying on a visa. I have a green card and I travel back to the UK every 6-8 weeks but still have to get my green card checked every single time before I can go through security. I can check in online and get a boarding pass on my phone, but it doesn't work until I've been to the visa check desk.

Standard procedure to ensure you are actually authorized to board and travel to the US. Airlines must look at your travel document (visa).

All standard with APIS data being captured and transferred to CBP at check in. Nothing to worry about.

Side note: get Global Entry and you won't have to deal with this, especially with that frequency of travel. 🙂

I already have it - doesn't help with the UK side of things though!

That is true.  I suppose if there was US CBP pre clearance, you'd be cooking with gas!

It is invaluable for the US side though, particularly on arrival back in the US - I sail past the huge queues of people in the immigration hall at Boston, and I always travel with hand luggage only so I'm usually sitting in the car within 10 minutes of stepping off the plane!
