Hello everyone,

Me and my wife have filled this year a CR1/IR1 case which is already approved with no problems at all. We have the Visa interview already scheduled by the NVC, which will be this December 2024.

On travel state gov's website, it says specifically that portuguese citizens, should bring a 2kg chronopost envelope to the interview so that the embassy could mail the Visa to my home address. And on travel state gov's website, that information didn't change and it still says to bring the chronopost envelope.

Unknown to us, apparently the French US embassy now has this new website "AVITS" where you should insert your information and confirm yout interview date, we got an email from them asking me to do this process and we had no problems doing this.

But then there's the "Document Delivery" process on the AVITS website too, where supposedly we should choose the pick up method of my VISA once it gets approved by the embassy (i think), we tried to do it at first but it didn't let us choose the delivery adresss to "Portugal" which is my home country, it only allowed "France" and the option was greyed out.

A few days later, we got another email from them saying the website was updated and we should go there to choose the document delivery option, and to our surprise, now it let us choose the delivery to be sent to Portugal and my address. We filled out the forms, and paid the 28.5€ for the Suxess Logistic Service, as instructed on the AVITS website.

My doubt is, since the travel stat gov's website still says that i should bring a 2kg chronopost envelope, should i still bring that envelope to the interview as instructed there? Or by filling the forms and paying for the courier on the AVITS website should be enough and i don't need to bring an envelop with me anymore?

These changes to the process are very recent, and they didn't do a great job updating this type of information for portuguese citizens on travel state gov's website.

Let me know what you guys think, should i still bring a 2kg chronopost envelope anyways just in case?

Thank you all in advance, and hope you all have a great week and happy holldays!
