Hello,

My Name is Ruel John, or R.J. for short. I am a Marine veteran(Filipino-American) who served from 2017-2020. I have a long distance filipina girlfriend who is currently residing in the philippines, and my goal is to fly and see her by october 2025 and get plenty of photos together for a fiance Visa. I am a bit worried that the process could take longer due to the Trump Administration. Not sure whether the procedures are going to be more strict. I do not have the money to hire people to help file for my beneficiary. So I'm hoping that somebody would be kind enough to assist us. I went to USCIS website and i was a bit confused where to get started, then i found this website. Thank you for having us!

So this is someone you have yet to meet and are looking to do next October.

If so no need to get too worried now, you have a long time to read the guides etc.

You might want to change your site username so you're not so identifiable.  This is a VERY public forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You've got lots of time to learn about the process.  This site is for DIY users, so you will find everything you need here to file on your own.  The Philippines is a common country for K-1.  There is a regional forum that discusses only the Philippines:  Philippines - VisaJourney

You came to the right place because there are free guides here!  Check the one for the K1 and also the one for the adjustment of status (required) for K1’s.

Yes meet up with her and get engaged and you will be filing the i-129f. Check out the guides here and also KsenyaInternational's youtube channel was so helpful to me. You can already start preparing with evidence to show your relationship before you got engaged screenshotting your conversations. You're definitely able to do with without outside help. Be sure to ask any questions you may have about filling out the form and double trip check them before you send them off! Good luck!

I started this K1 process in 2021 with my fiance. I knew nothing about the immigration processes but you can be sure that this site will serve you very well if you take the time to familiarize yourself with it and its many guides.

My wife and her son arrived here in the US in November of last year and literally received their green cards this last Friday. We would not have made it this far if it were not for the resources here and some amazingly knowledgeable people that helped us from the I-129F all the way through to now, and I plan on continuing here to learn our next steps in the immigration process. You can do it as well, no doubt.

Some suggestions I have for you would be:

- Don't rush things. Take your time to research and know what your next step in the process will be. Your fiance should be just as well versed.

- Look 2 steps ahead. Try to learn what comes after the step you're currently trying to take.

- Be aware of time frames and deadlines. For example, when your fiance immigrates over on a K-1, be aware you must marry within 90 days of their arrival. Also be aware of how long the K-1 is good for and what you guys need to do before it expires. Like I said, be 2 steps ahead. Know the answer before the plane ticket is even purchased to come over.

Our I-129F took well over a year to get approved, which from what I could see at the time was much longer than I saw with many others. that was under Biden. Trump just wants people to immigrate the legal way which it looks like you are planning on doing so I wouldn't worry about it.

Right now the 129 approval time is running 6-8 months if you file today.  Overall timeframe is about 12 months.

If you are a DIY filer this youtube channel is the best out there and the price is right LOL

OP wouldn’t be eligible to file today, as they have not met.

No need to screenshot conversations. It's not a requirement, nor a recommendation in any of the forms.

RJ, Go spend time with your girl and see how you bond with each other and if she is still living with her parents then stay at her home and get to know her and her family, This is what I did with my prospective girls I was courting.  I advise you to stay away from girls from broken homes or broken families and get college educated and no one over age 30.

I don't see President Trump causing any delays with K1's.  Study her and once you are comfortable with your choice then start collecting the neccassary paperwork from studying what you need here.

Philippines is known as an easy embassy to get a K1 from, they ask as few questions and boom approved.

Good Luck.

He's already got a fiancée, he's not trying to find one. And the age limit is a bit creepy, he could be twice that age for all we know! 🤮😂
