Hi all

so sorry if this has been asked but I am from the UK and I’m marrying an American in April and we are planning

the visa process so I can live in the US

Are there any links people can provide or information already on here to help me understand the process

basically when we get our marriage certificates literally what is the first step, a sort of guide for dummies I guess

sorry again if this is a repeat but anything could be amazing

thanks

There's a guide on this forum (top of the page) which is great.

Personally, for my immigrant visa, I found the official step by step guide really clear and useful too - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition.html

Good luck.

Just be aware that you can't use esta to travel here and adjust status if that is the original intention.  You can visit but must proceed via consular processing
