I had my interview on the 20th of November and all was fine other than them requesting the original divorce paperwork for my wife, despite this not being listed on the checklist.

My wife posted them (for $70!) and I dropped them off at DX last Tuesday, I've contacted them today as the tracking number wasn't being recognised and they stated that the item is still where I left it and hasn't even been processed yet, this can apparently take 7 working days. Does anyone else have any experience with sending documents via DX? If so how long did it take for them to be delivered, and the how long was it for you to received your response/passport back from the Embassy?

Really hoping to be able to spend Christmas with my wife, but it's starting to look unlikely.

Unfortunately that just comes under the 'original or certified copy version of all civil documents submitted to NVC'.

When we sent our passports via DX (interview waiver) they were delivered within 5 working days, and then we had them back with the visas about a week later. So there's still a chance of you getting the visa before Christmas, although you do need to allow a bit more time for the paperwork to be checked.

Fingers crossed for you and good luck.

Thanks @appleblossom

Turns out DX just gave me the wrong tracking number and it was actually delivered to the embassy on the 29th of November. But still no news unfortunately!

Oh that’s good! What does your online status say? When it changes to ‘issued’ you’ll know it’s about to be on its way back with a lovely visa in it.

@appleblossom

The ais.usvisa-info site still says 'Send Documents' and the DS-260 site still says refused, but does say last updated the 29th of November, so at least that's confirmation they've received (hopefully) the last bit of documentation they need.

@appleblossom Two weeks later and it's finally updated to 'Administrative Processing'! Do you remember how long after that yours change to issued?

Ah that's good! Mine was only in AP for a couple of hours before it changed to issued. But we didn't have to submit any docs so there wasn't really much for them to check after the interview, yours may take a little while longer but at least it means they're now looking at it.

Hopefully it's not long for you, good luck.

@appleblossom Issued! Going to be cutting fine for Christmas, but at least I know it's done! Thanks a lot for your help and support!

Congrats! I know they say to allow a couple of weeks for passport delivery, but ours was nowhere near that, it's usually much quicker. I reckon you'll have your visa in hand by the end of the week.

Not a bad Christmas present. 👍
