Hi. My car is already in the US and I am trying to figure out a way to import it without going back to the border. CBP at DFW says I need a broker but brokers won't help with cars already in the US.

You can try a major airport

Gather paperwork and head to Mexico and do it there if the deferred inspection site won't do it.  Otherwise, take it back to Canada, sell it and buy a new American car.

We imported our vehicle via Buffalo land border without any problem. Whole process took 20 minutes. You need to have compliance letter from car manufacturer, EPA 3501-1 form and DOT HS-7 Form, original registration, vehicle purchase agreement and recalls fixed. Officer sent assistant to check EPA sticker ,VIN, year of manufacturing sticker on the car. CBP officer typed three forms on the computer and returned us the stamped forms including 7501 form for DMV. There is no duties on the car manufactured for Canada.

Which Buffalo crossing? (Peace Bridge, Rainbow Bridge or Lewiston Bridge)

I'm trying to figure out which location and try to look up their hours (for vehicle import office) so I can cross during open business hours for them instead of showing up at 6 AM which is the time I normally cross into the US to avoid traffic.

Thank you.

Spouse/Wife (IR-1)  and Minor Stepchild (IR-2) - Both have their own case numbers.

Applied around April 2023 (I-130s) - started this entire process

Uploaded docs to CEAC website around April 2024

Both were documentararily approved around August 2024

First interview date (Jan 29 25) scheduled for wife - notified around November 2024

Asked for NVC/Montreal to merge stepchild with wife's original interview date around November 2024

Emailed Congressman to help merge stepchild's interview date and successfully around December 2024

Montreal embassy cancelled/rescheduled a new interview date (Jan 14 2025) around Christmas week of December 2024

Emailed Montreal embassy to merge stepchild's old interview date (Jan 29) with wife'snew interview date around December 30 2024 - no response

Contacted Congressman (on Jan 9 2025) to help merge stepchild's old interview date with wife's new interview date (Jan 14) - successfully merged with spouse on 1/10/2025

Embassy interview for both spouse and child on Jan 14, 2025 @ 9:45 AM EST - Verbally approved and Child Visa ISSUED same day but wife's CEAC status is still READY.

Jan 15, 2025 - ISSUED for spouse.

Passport shipped via Purolator on Jan 17 and expected arrival on Jan 20 for the passports.

Jan 21 2025, went to Canada Post to retrieve both passports.

Plan on officially landing around June 7, 2025.

Moving plans in the works....

Peace Bridge - It takes 20 minutes - 1 hour to import vehicle depending upon how many people are in the secondary area for vehicle import.
