My wife just had her interview I have some questions

My wife just had her interview at the embassy. I guess they didn't have our documents even though we uploaded them to the NVC before an expedite.   Online it shows visa refused ,  they took my wife and kids passports , scanned the documents then gave my wife a domestic violence pamphlet.  They told my wife that they would have to get back with us.   Is this a good sign that we got approved ? If so about how long will it take for us to get an update you think ?

I'm confused, you say 'I guess they didn't have our documents' but then say they scanned them? You have to take the documents on the checklist (mainly originals of the ones you've uploaded to NVC) to the interview, but it does sound like you've done that.

The online status will say refused or AP whilst final checks are done, and then change to 'issued', usually within just a day or two. As long as it's a straightforward case and not a high risk consulate, hopefully it will be super quick.

Good luck.

It's the embassy in managua nicaragua.   Yes they told my wife they didn't have the marriage certificate and other documents they took everything from her and made copies. They also took her passport.  My wife said they mentioned the lack of our WhatsApp conversations. We tried to keep it simple and only show a few per month in a nice presentation, this was the only negative thing said.  She got NO slips and they handed her the domestic violence pamphlet. This is all that was told to us. I'm assuming since they handed her the pamphlet and kept the passports and no colored slips were handed to her we are good correct ?

So your wife had the original marriage cert? That's fine then.

Not necessarily. She could still be put in to extended AP, but them taking the passports is a good sign. You just can't assume anything, only wait until the CEAC status changes to 'issued'. Did they give her a verbal approval?

My wife said one officer told her that everything was good but the other one basically said they would have to review everything.  I logged into CEAC and it doesn't show anything right now but case tracker shows Updated today " Refused"

OK, so just keep an eye on it, hopefully it'll be issued before too long.

Good luck.

"Refused" doesn't mean denied. It means you're in AP. It sounds like they're doing things in the background before they're happy to issue. If you're sure she did not receive a 221g then they don't need anything from you. You just need to wait.
