Can I change jobs after i send I-129F Form?

Hello Everyone!

My name is Mike and I am new here and trying to find this answer that I can't seem to find an answer to. I have been at my current job for two years and I have a second part-time job as well. I a, about to send the I-129F form as well as the I-134 Affidavit of Support form to her in the Philippines.

When would it be wise to start looking to switch jobs? I don't have a cosigner, its just going to be me. I make plenty of money now and with the new job I would be making more so the money isn't an issue I wouldn't think. I have read that they frown at job instability, even though there will be no gaps of employment. I just want to make sure I do this right but also want to start looking as soon as it's wise to do so.

thanks in advance for any advice or feedback, let me know if there is any information I left out that will be helpful!

Thank you!!!!

You don’t send the I134 with the I129F, the I134 comes later when the interview occurs.  You are free to change jobs throughout the process, but if a job change occurs after you send the I134, you will need to change that form.

Good Luck!

My question is, does it look bad if you switch jobs during the process as long as there are no gaps in employment? do they see that as work instability?

Possibly, hard to say, but people change jobs all the time.  If you show a good history of working, and meet the financial requirements, I would not hold off bettering yourself employment wise.  Worst case scenario, the consulate requests a joint sponsor.

income is key / IRS transcripts don't care if u switch employers or even type of job /immigration cares what the tax transcripts say and that all W2's  and any 1099's are included.

i retired at beginning of the process

I switched jobs right before (Exactly 1 week before) I filed the I-129F for Jaycel and had no issues. We also went through the Embassy in Manila and they didn't even ask for the I-134 at her interview. They have a reputation of not requiring it. That's not to say they won't ask for it when your fiancee goes for her interview so definitely fill it out, sign it and scan it and all the supporting docs to send to her before the interview just in case. You definitely do not file it with the I-129F.
