I agree. The OP was advised ages ago not to be out of the US so long, and said she would return before 180 days was up, but hasn't done that, so has only spent a week or so in the US since arriving. I think I'd stay longer and get established first before leaving again.

But if she get accepted for rentry permit i guess she is safe to leave US to finish her phd then return to US permanently no ? 
she will do her best, openin bank account settle herself there then return to finish her stuff in lebanon before she go back for good. We can try to get proof that she will return to US and live there no ?

You said she only needs 6 months to finish her PhD? So she doesn't need a re-entry permit if she goes back to the US and establishes herself there properly (get bank account, driving licence, etc) before leaving again for 6 months. That should be fine.

Oh, and also, if she can make it just under 6 months then she won't interrupt her 'continuous residence', so will be able to apply for US citizenship earlier too. So I'd suggest she makes it just a bit less than 6 months that she is out of the US for.

I hope she is aware that she needs to file a US tax return even if she's outside the country and include income earned in Lebanon? There is a tax treaty between the US and Lebanon so she should be able to avoid double taxation. As for sponsors - a third party sponsor needs to be a US resident, either citizen or LPR.
