Background:

My 70-year-old mother’s I-485 was denied due to a missing Form I-864A. I mistakenly included my spouse’s income on the original Form I-864 without submitting Form I-864A. However, my individual income alone meets the 125% federal poverty guideline for a household of five (myself, my wife, two children, and my mother). My family and I are her sole source of emotional, physical, and financial support.

I recently submitted Form I-290B (Motion to Reopen and Reconsider) with corrections and supporting documentation, including:

1. A corrected Form I-864 showing only my income.

2. W-2s, tax returns (2023–2021), and recent pay stubs proving income.

3. A bank statement for additional financial evidence.

4. An explanation letter clarifying the error and demonstrating my financial eligibility.

Question:

What are the likely outcomes of the Motion to Reopen and Reconsider? Are there additional steps I should take to strengthen my case or expedite the process? What is the typical processing time for such motions?
