Sadly still nothing. It's only been 2,5 weeks, so I can't panic yet, especially with the holidays. But it's starting to make me nervous!

Just remember that everything slows down around a big national holiday like Thanksgiving. A lot of people take vacation, offices closed, etc.

I have not, they basically said 'keep an eye on the mail and if it's not here in 4 weeks come see us'. I didn't even know there was an option to track it

Definitely sign up for Informed Delivery! It's free and invaluable for peace of mind when tracking important docs, and you'll have lots more reason to use it with your AOS application etc.

I know LOL... We filed our AOS the week before Thanksgiving :) Informed Delivery is through USPS yes. It will tell you what you are getting via first class mail that day and it will give you updates on "Trackable" shipments once a shipper creates a label for your shipment

This is what I am anticipating. I am travelling to the USA this Saturday. I know people have said after 2 weeks (I did see on a page on the SSN site saying 10 days but not sure if I should go at 10 days or 14 days?) to go to the SSA Appointment after booking online for the SSN which would be around the 23rd December.

You will go online to ssa.gov and create an account a few days after you arrive and then apply for your SSN online via the SS-5 form. Once you submit this, it will tell you that you have to complete the application in person at an office and should provide you a link to schedule an appointment at your nearest office. Do that and by the time you go to the appointment, you should be all set in regards to the DHS & SSA databases being in sync. Bring a copy of your I-94, your passport with K-1 visa in it and your birth certificate.

So there’s finally something showing up today! I can read the first line and it says ‘this is a receipt to show that you have applied for a social security…’ so I don’t know if the card is in it, but atleast it’s something, right?

We wanted to get married Thursday but that’s looking like it might not happen haha

That just sounds like the receipt form, the card will follow.

But why do you need your SSN to get married? I'm curious as I've never heard of that before, assume it's something specific to your state?
