How long for your SSN recently?

Hi dear friends!!

We went to the SSA office last friday, it was a BREEZE, made an appointment online (10000% recommend doing this, I hear some people call and wait for a long time, I scheduled mine in 5min), she said that it can take upto 4 weeks because they have to check with immigration, but I always read about 2 weeks, is this an updated wait time? Or do they say 4 weeks and it's usually around 2 weeks?

Not that it really matters, because all I can do is wait anyway, but our desired wedding date was Dec 12th, and we seem to need a SSN to get a marriage license, so if it's 4 weeks, it's going to be tight haha.

Yes... the guy from SSA that processed her application said that it could take up to 4 weeks

I'm hoping there isn't anything 'special' about mine that made her say 4 weeks

I think it's a case of typical government employees... Some will give you the common timeframe and some will give you the worst case scenario just to cover their behinds. LOL

Hahah I hope so. She seemed very kind, so that sounds fitting. I'll be checking the mail today since it's almost a week later, fingers crossed!
