Hi everyone,

I’m applying for a CR1 visa as the beneficiary, and I need some help regarding my travel history.

I visited the U.S. back in 2003, but I don’t remember the exact date. Unfortunately, I don’t have the passport I used at the time, so I’m unable to locate my I-94 (or I-93) record.

I’m currently trying to obtain my old passport number and arrival date from my home country’s government office.

Would having the passport number and arrival date be enough on CBP website to locate my I-93, even though my travel record is over 20 years old?

Thank you in advance!

You only need to enter the I-94 information if you are CURRENTLY in the US.  Please review that section of the I-130.

Thank you so much for your kind and helpful reply!

I’m using the Boundless service, and they mentioned that I need my I-94, even though I’m currently living in Japan. That’s what led to my confusion. Your guidance really means a lot to me, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to help.

Boundless should know better.  I would ask for a different agent.

EDIT:  If you use a lawyer or an immigration prep service like Boundless, you should still familiarize yourself with the process.  Go over all the forms and read all the instructions.  There is also a guide here for spouse visas - please review it.

Also, to help you with your dealings with Boundless, have them look at Form I-130, Page 7:

The form clearly states to fill out 46.a. to 46.d. if the beneficiary is currently in the United States.

Quote

Beneficiary's Entry Information

45. Was the beneficiary EVER in the United States?

If the beneficiary is currently in the United States, complete
Items Numbers 46.a. - 46.d.

46.a. He or she arrived as a (Class of Admission):

46.b. Form I-94 Arrival-Departure Record Number

46.c. Date of Arrival (mm/dd/yyyy)

46.d. Date authorized stay expired, or will expire, as shown on
Form I-94 or Form I-95 (mm/dd/yyyy) or type or print
"D/S" for Duration of Status
