Hi Everyone,

I have been married for 8 years to an US Citizen. I am filing for citizenship online! We have a 2 year old daughter and she lives with us. What to say to the question " Are you providing support to this child'? Should i say yes? If so what to submit as documents? My husband and I share the cost. But he pays for the most like daycare and other expensive stuff. I buy diapers, toys and clothes. Should we submit a letter stating this and get it signed? This portion is very confusing. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

if you read the instructions for that part of the N400 it says

Quote

Required Evidence - Child and Spousal Support

Provide evidence that you have complied with any child and spousal support obligations. If you have dependent children living apart from you, provide evidence that you support each dependent child and that you have complied with any child support obligations.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/n-400instr.pdf  page 15

So the requirement for evidence does not apply to children living with you.  The fact that they live with you is proof you are supporting them.

I have the same problem with this when filing online. I'm married and our 1year old daughter definitely lives with us and are supported by us, but it won't let me continue with the application. A note that states "you should provide evidence" pops up and won't let me continue with the application.

I'd say "No" is correct answer. You're not paying child support.

You can clarify during interview if asked, as you guaranteed to have it for N-400.

We just clicked "next", the warning popped up, we decided it doesn't apply to us since there are no children who live apart from us, ignored the warning, clicked next again and went on.  My wife was approved earlier today with no questions on the subject at all other than that her daughter is living here with us.
