Hoping to get advice...

My GP is dragging their heels in sending me a copy of my Summary Care Record, required for my K1 medical. I have been chasing, making calls, emails and in person but am told due to it being a clerical request it is not urgent. They won't even tell me how long it may take them. Really frustrated as every other time I've asked for documents, it's been a same day turnaround.

I contacted Visa Medicals to explain my situation and ask what would happen if I don't recieve my SCR in time. This was the response:

Is this true? Will London refuse to see me if they don't have my medical results? I have read many accounts of people experiencing delays for all manner of reasons in the Embassy getting their medical docs and they did interview, but we're temporarily refused under 221g pending the results. Surely there's scope for me to attend medical and they need further info on something, which would cause a delay in them sending things on to the Embassy. I've even read an account of medical not being sent until a day AFTER the interview. But here they are telling me the Embassy WILL refuse to see me.

My medical is scheduled for 19th Nov and my interview is scheduled for 26th Nov. I couldn't get a sooner medical date when booking in early Nov, and scheduled my interview back in mid Oct.

I don't know who to believe. VJers who have written about similar situations, or Visa Medicals. Why would they tell me this if this isn't the case?

😩

My fiance is the one who attended his interview and then had to call visa medicals to remind them to send the medical to the embassy.

Did you end up attending your medical? They should still see you for your interview and issue a 221g if needed.

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies @ScarletWitch6xand @appleblossom

In the end, I didn't get my SCR and nor was I able to get it in the NHS app as my GP hasn't made it available to me. However, over the course if the back and forth they provided me with 3 seperate summaries which when combined covered all of the info I needed.

I would also like to add that the letter from my GP stating that I have not sought support for mental health in some years, which did not state I am not a risk to myself/others, was also sufficient. Visa Medicals told me they are inky concerned if anything had happened in the last 12 months. I've read many posts here which state it NEEDS to say you aren't a risk - this isn't true.

My medical went fine without issue, no concerns at all. Due to interview in London on Tuesday. 😊

It must depend on the mental health issue I think - my daughter had a history of self harm and anti depressants, and Visa Medicals said we had to get the exact wording about not being a risk to herself or others. Or perhaps it's just who you speak to that day! They do seem to be inconsistent, I noticed recently some people have had to have blood tests to prove they have chicken pox immunity, whereas we weren't even asked about it and just had the box ticked automatically.

Glad you managed to get the SCR stuff sorted in the end, good luck for the move.

That's interesting. On the questionnaire when arriving, it asks if you've ever had chickenpox and I said something along the lines of "Had as a child, unsure of exact age". Then on my vaccine tick sheet it has, under "Varicella" (which is chickenpox) "Varicella history" checked off.

They took a blood sample but I was told it was to test for TB and syphilis.

I was the last appointment of the day so maybe got lucky with the home time rush. :D

That's also interesting because when I asked my GP to amend the letter with this exact wording, they refused saying they can "only state facts from my record"! I found this a little insulting lol, like they didn't believe the statement to be true?

That's not great! So glad you got it all sorted in the end.

I think mental health concerns are reviewed on a case by case basis - they may want a letter that says "you are not a risk to self of others" but if your summary shows that you are not a risk then it does the same thing.

I think that timeframe has an impact as well.

Regardless - the doctors are there to use their judgment as well as metrics to determine eligibility.

@smilingstone glad it went alright!
