Yes. Approved January 4 and card produced Jan 9. Not too bad. Better start reading California drivers booklet lol 😂 since I have to redo my driving license here from scratch…

HAHAHAHA Yes Jaycel has to do the same here in Colorado. Starting with her Learner's permit once we get the EAD card 😁

I got my physical and went to the dmv to apply, but did not expect to do the knowledge test right then and there! Luckily I got enough right, was psyching myself out on a few questions tho 😅

 

Overall getting a license here is pretty straightforward, in my home country it takes way longer and costs like 2k nowadays...

Haha yes @AUTtoPA I'm also having to start from scratch here. Been reading the CA Drivers Booklet too but I haven't driven for close to 3 years (not necessary when I was back home - they have a fantastic public transport system 😭) plus it was on "the other side of the road" so that'd be an interesting change.

*** Update *** I-765 Case Status Changed yesterday to "Card Was Produced"!  And of course right before that, even though we were at "Approval Case Decision was Rendered", the "My Progress" tab still said an estimated 7 months until case decision 😆🤪 We also received Jaycel's updated SS card in the mail yesterday so the SSA beat USCIS to card production on this round 🤣

Luckily for me driving here is mostly the same as in Austria, just a bunch of small differences. I recommend downloading a drivers test app on your phone (mine on android is literally called 'Drivers Test'), on the one I got you can set the state you're in, do practice tests and it explains why the answer is right/wrong. I like studying by doing practice test questions, I did the same for the GED. I passed the road test too now, I only looked up youtube videos about what to expect and they explain it well, though obviously I've had a good amount of practice with 4 months of driving in the US.
