Welcome to all AOS filers for November 2024!  Following the example of other users, I'm taking on the task of starting the thread for us, in order to track our progress.

 

We all come from a variety of situations, so please reference the Immigration Guides for your AOS filing directions.  Feel free to share your procedure/progress in the comments below!

 

My wife arrived on a K1 visa on August 30th and we were married on October 25th.  We filed today with the following packet composed (this is a copy of our Table of Contents):

 

I-485 Cover letter Itemization:

 

RE: ORIGINAL SUBMISSION of Form I-485 Application to Adjust Status as an Immediate Relative of a US Citizen (Spouse)

 

Enclosed please find my form I-485 Application to Adjust Status as an Immediate Relative of a US Citizen (Spouse). Following is a list of contents included in this application, in the order in which they appear:

 

·       Payment for the filing fee in the amount of $1,440 made payable to US Department of Homeland Security

·       Two 2x2 Passport Style Photos of Applicant (with Name and A-Number written on the back)

·       Form G-1145 Request for e-Notification

·       Cover Letter – 2 Pages (This Document)

·       Form I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Signed by Applicant)

·       Copy of my Passport Biographic Page

·       Copy of my K-1 Visa Passport Page with stamp showing Inspection and Admission issued by US Customs and Border Protection at Los Angeles International Airport on August 30, 2024

·       Copy of my most recent I-94 Record

·       Copy of my Philippine Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – 2 Pages

·       Copy of my Social Security Card

·       Copy of Form I-797C Receipt Notice (NOA 1) & Approval Notice (NOA 2) for the Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) filed on my behalf - 2 Pages

·       Copy of the K1-FTP NVC Letter from the Original I-129F Petition

·       Certified Copy of our Marriage Certificate

·       Medical Exam Requirements:

o   Cover Letter RE: medical exams for K-1 Non-Immigrant Visa holders adjusting status who have completed a medical exam abroad within one year of filing form I-485

o   Copy of my DS-3025 Vaccination Documentation Worksheet (2 Pages) completed by a panel physician during my Immigrant Medical Examination in Manila, Philippines on 8/6 & 8/7/2024, confirming voluntary completion of all vaccination requirements

·       Additional Documents – Proof of a Bona Fide Marriage

o   Photos taken at our Wedding and Celebratory Dinner on October 25th, 2024 – 3 Pages

o   Copy of our Wedding Invitation

o   Copy of our Joint Apartment Lease (In my maiden name as we signed it before our marriage) – 24 Pages

o   Copy of our first Joint Bank Account Statement from XXXXXXX Bank – 6 Pages

o   Copy of My Husband’s Work Benefits Summary with me Included on his Health Insurance as Spouse and as the sole Beneficiary of his Life and AD&D Insurance Policies (Coverage for the Remainder of 2024) – 2 Pages

o   Copy of My Husband’s Work Benefits Summary with me Included on his Health Insurance and Life Insurance Plan as Spouse and as the sole Beneficiary of his Life and AD&D Insurance Policies (2025 Enrollment) – 2 Pages

o   Copy of my husband’s retirement plan beneficiary page listing me as Primary and Sole Beneficiary

o   Copy of my husband’s Last Will and Testament with me listed as Personal Representative and Sole Beneficiary – 9 Pages

o   Copy of my husband’s Power of Attorney for Healthcare with me listed as his “Agent” – 4 Pages

o   Copy of my husband’s Human Resources Portal page with me listed as his Emergency Contact

 

·       Form I-864 Affidavit of Support, Under Section 213 of the INA completed and signed by my husband, Edward XXXXXXXX, along with its supporting documents

I arrived on Aug 9th on a K1 too. We were married Aug 17th - and sent the package (AOS and EAD only) off end October.

NOA receipt Nov 6th.

Woke up this morning and looked at our bank account and saw that USCIS had cashed both of our checks... the one for $1,440 for the I-485 and the one for $260 for the I-765! 😁 No e-Notification yet. Hopefully that will come today. At least we know it's not sitting in a pile of packages somewhere LOL

They're quick to take the money but not so quick to adjudicate 😃

 

In general, notifications lag behind. You can sometimes get faster clues from other sources:

 

- Your bank when they cash the check

- USPS Informed Delivery when GC / work card or other correspondence is sent from USCIS.

 

And also, emails and messages lag behind case status, which in its turn lags behind the other things I mentioned above.
