Incoming adminstration has vowed to "Close the Border" on Janurary 20th 2025.

Does that mean for US Citizens?  Does that mean for visa holders? Does that mean the Southern border land crossing only?

Is anyone considering bringing the family or others here via a Tourist Visa earlier in case the US is closed for immigration for a while?

My MIL was approved for a Tourist Visa from Philippines last month and we had planned on brining her to USA in April after winter and cold weather had passed, I am now rethinking in case things are closed for a while after the inaguration.

Citizens can't be denied entry and neither can LPRs. Everything else is pure speculation. Most likely additional measures to stop illegal entry could be put in place through executive action, including potentially banning travel from certain countries (even visa holders) like what previously happened.

Valid visa holders will be allowed in like your MIL  / we have a tourist visa interview in Moroc in January for 1 family member

You may want to read the following to understand what a President can do,  try to do or wish he could do

i suspect he will again block some countries as he had success in that venture

Even in covid the Mexico border was only closed for non essential personal  / commercial trucks carrying goods like avocados still came in

Even Trump is aware that many illegals come by illegal border infiltration not at POE's

Following 2 events the border was completely closed for only days

.The measures taken on one of the occasions—the aftermath of President Kennedy’s assassination in 1963—may have constituted a full closure of ports of entry on the southern border for much of the afternoon and evening of November 22, 1963. On another occasion, during President Reagan’s Administration, nine ports of entry were closed for a matter of days after the abduction of a Drug Enforcement Administration agent in Mexico in 1985.

He has a supportive Republican Congress now so let's see what he tries and what he accomplishes

He still can not fire federal judges so taking them on may be his biggest issue

Wait and see /its bound to be interesting

I was flying to Cancun a few times during Covid, only thing we had to do was take a nasal swab test to enter the USA during Covid.  June 2021 was my last nasal swab I got in Mexico provided by the resort as needed by US GOvernment to enter USA.

That is why I love Mexico so much, they keep on catering to US Citizens during Covid at least in Cancun they did.

Maybe the Mexico border was closed to like non americans trying to enter into the USA.

I can promise you LPR can be denied entry into the USA

If only CBP breaks the law...

CBP can offer to sign I-407 to give up GC voluntarily and then deny entry. If LPR says no to signing I-407, they'll be given NTA for immigration court hearing. But in this case they should be admitted into the US.
