How long are notarized documents good for in US?

Hi all, just curious regarding my partner's existing translated and notarized documents from China for use in Adjustment of Status, professional certification, and job searching. While in China, some of the dates have already lapsed, would this same expiration also apply to the translations in the US as well? As far as I know, in the US, once a document is officially notarized, it's good for a very long time. But, not sure about foreign documents?

In the U.S., notaries notify signatures, not documents, at the time of execution.  The notarized documents themselves remain in effect until rescinded, superseded, or revoked by another document or perhaps by law.  People here who've executed Wills and other estate documents can assume that they're valid forever.

 

Unless there's something in the Chinese documents that puts an expiration on the notarial certification, we should be able to assume that they remain valid.  Officials and employers in the U.S. would have no reason to presume otherwise.
