I filled up at 2.47 the other day and bought a half gallon of milk for 1.59. Maybe Boston isn't as expensive as I've been thinking.

Thank God for independent gas stations and Market Basket.

oh boy! I gotta move to b-town.

We paid 2.51 yesterday for gas. NJ has one of the cheapest gas rates though so thank god for that. Also, milk DID go sky high. Costs about 4.50 a gallon for milk now...probably almost 5 bucks. HARDLY affordable.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I remember when I started driving, gas was $0.89 a gallon and I could take a twenty-dollar bill and fill up the tank on the beat-up station wagon I used to drive. After church we'd always go and get a gallon of milk and my mother would give me a dollar, though that crept up pretty steadily. A dollar plus tax buys me a quart of milk now. Until very recently the minimum wage hadn't gone up, so my sister was making the same rate, roughly, at the grocery store that I had ten years previously, except that a tank of gas cost her three times as much.

And it's not like I'm 60 here. I'm not sure if the government's fellating more oil companies these days or we were in a bubble back in 1997, but this is nuts.

Premium gas is still $2.93 here in FL :(

In Orlando, maybe. Not around here it isn't.

No mebbe about it :(

http://www.automotive.com/gas-prices/33/fl...ando/index.html

Of course, there is cheaper than $2.93....but to drive 10 miles to save a few pennies seems silly

It is a welcome relief but I doubt it will last long. I notice the price of milk jumped dramatically after several months of high gas prices! :o I'm sure that many products across the board went up. What an interdependent economy we live in...I wish it weren't so much that way. :(

Yeah what's up with the milk prices?

Well, as long as they don't raise the beer...

Guess they should move the cows into the store to eliminate the milk transportation costs .... :P

I can see it now ... milk you own .... better than farm fresh

Think I paid about $2.84 a gallon yesterday just south of Tucson. Not bad. Takes a bit more than $30 to fill the tank and I can go for over 3 weeks without needing a refill.

Perfect time to buy that Hummer.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
