Bringing a lawyer to n400 interview.

Planning to file n400 soon. ( filing by myself). Is it a good idea to hire an attorney to just attend n400 interview. Can I still hire one to attend one if I am not using the services of one to submit the application and haven't mentioned the name of an attorney as a representative? Wasn't sure if some paperwork is needed to be filled out if I wanted to bring an attorney along to the n400. Was given the 10 year green card despite being married for less than 2 years at that time so I filed I90 to fix it. Then filed I751 to remove the conditions. (I90 was denied soon after filing I751). What do you need a lawyer for? If it's just for getting 10 yr card and getting it fixed by I-90 and filing I-751 - you don't need a lawyer.

If hiring lawyer, why not hire for entire process? From filing to oath.

I'm not sure how many lawyers would go just to your interview. They need to know your case, circumstances etc.

do you have straight forward case? or something that you concern with?

can u still hire a lawyer? sure u can if/when you find one. most lawyer usually dont want to take halfway case, because they dont know your immigration history. you should do diligent and call lawyer's office to find out if they want to come with u on the interview. normally just form G-28 that need to be submit

Thanks. Does it need to be submitted at the time of submitting the n400 application or we can decide closer to thr interview and bring that form G28. have DIY'd so far so not sure. Any personal experiences from people who used an attorney or had them attend the interview? Thanks for the help guys.

I am sure OP would find someone happy to sit in with little prior knowledge... for a price.

Have DIY'ed since k1 and am mostly done with the online n400 application, (ready to submit) soon. Came across some posters on vj who had a bad interview experience and the comments said that they should have taken an attorney with to make sure that their rights were protected and correct procedures were followed. That's what made me think if an attorney is needed at n400 interview level.

Looks like it's not too late to hire somebody to supervise entire process and prepare you for the interview too.

But if you want a lawyer just for interview portion, you certainly can do that. You may also shop around and see what it costs to do the whole case VS just interview representation. My gut feeling is, just interview is going to cost at 50-80% of the price of the entire case. But I may be wrong.

The moment you hired an attorney, just submit the G28 on the portal if possible. And also bring that form on the interview

So it's ok if I file by myself right now and if I decide that I'd prefer to have an attorney come with,just file the G28 online? Making sure I understand correctly.

Attorney will file G-28 when you hire them. It's the form completed by attorney. Not sure if they can file online or on paper.

No one can stop u to file it by yourself. Like I said u might have issue to find lawyer
