Me and my partner (Iraq/kurdish) have decided to move on to the next step and we are going to be married!

I found out today that I need authenticated / legalized affidavit stating that I am single and available for marriage.

So far I have found out that this involves 4 step process:

1. Notarizing document of single marital status / no record of marriage

2. US department of state authentication

3. DC authentication

4. Iraqi consulate authentication

am I on the right track with this? Do i need to 3 seperate copies of the document and send each of them to US dept. of state, DC, and iraqi consulate?

You've posted this in the DCF section of the forum but I assume this is just a requirement to get married in Iraq, rather than anything to do with a visa application?

If you can clarify then hopefully somebody can help.
