Wait, so you had the oath ceremony without the name change? I thought the name change had to come before the oath ceremony so the CON can have the new name.

Nah I was just sitting in the background watching it/them. My ceremony incl name change will take place in June. It looks like the reason for me having had to watch those was that they tried to fix the problem in the system and needed to keep me entertained or something. It also resulted in an email sent to me with today’s date for the ceremony which then got canceled and I got a new notification with the correct date.

Holy cow! OK. Thanks for the clarification. I'm also doing a name change. I had no idea you have to wait months to get it done! I thought it was like getting married, just sign the document and you're done, lol.  UGH!

It depends on your field office. The extra wait can be as short as 4 weeks…and as long as, well, I have heard horror stories like 6 months…but ~3 months seems pretty common.

The officer was actually trying to gently sell me on just going for the Naturalisation since I could have had that the same day, downstairs. I said heck no, I have waited for 11 years, those measly 3 months ain’t gonna make me drop my new name! He laughed and understood, and 3 1-2 months of exact wait I got. Doesn’t even bother me. The deed is done. The stress is over.

Fingers crossed it doesn't take too long then.

Naturalisation is offered by British and Aussies, I hope officer offered naturalization.

This was good. I think @MichaelJuan.198 is contemplating whether his wife should just take same day oath with current name and change it later or decline same day oath to naturalize in new name. I think your approach is much better. Good luck!

my wife’s on the same boat, and yeah the wait is long. We are still thinking of what is the best way to do it, but it seems like doing it after it faster but more costly. That’s where we’re headed

Since we received the email asking which two weeks we prefer, we haven’t heard anything back since.
Is this normal? We asked for 24 March or 21 April at the DC office.

We sent USCIS a message through the website inbox and asked when we would hear back. We got a response last night saying that they looked into it and found that we are being scheduled for 22 April. We are still waiting on the official notice from the DC office, but that looks like good news!

We just received the interview scheduled notification letter in the USCIS inbox for the 22 April date! We are hoping that it’s approved and we can do the oath ceremony the same day as they often do on Tuesdays and also get an expedited passport appointment.

Hey, I had my Oath Ceremony on monday (same day oath) eveything went great and i have my naturalization certificare. However on my case number and my USCIS account it still shows as ''Oath Ceremony notice was mailed''. It was never mailed cuz I had a same day oath. How long does it usually take to update on my account?

PS: I know that i dont need my account to be update since i have my naturalization certificate in hand, but still, i want to see it showing online so please respect my journey. :)

Mine showed that way for like a year or so. I think that if I didn't file a K1 visa for my husband it would have never updated it.

What did it say after a year?

It says certificate of naturalization was issued. I also had a same day oath couple of hours after the interview so it was saying that I was placed in line for oath ceremony and didn't change like I said for a long time until I opened a different case as a citizen.
