Hey, all. I'll try to keep this short and sweet.
Filipina wife.
Vermont Service Center.
NOA date October 18, 2023.
Been actively reviewing since November 2023.
"Case taking longer than expected" for idk how many months now.
VJ timeline says they are currently working on cases with NOA date of October 20th, 2023.... But still no updates on our end.
Is the VJ timeline thing accurate? Should I be expecting something soon?
Is anyone else in a similar boat?
I'm going to be honest, I underestimated how hard this was going to be. This distance. And we're pretty much stuck apart until the process is done.
It's got me a pit and it's affecting her mental well-being as well. This wait and just not hearing anything. Getting hopes up to get them dashed.
I just need some hope and some info. I know interview scheduling will take a bit, but if we can at least update with this petition, we can at least feel like we are finally moving in the right direction.

Thanks to anyone who replies.

I think they are currently working on submissions from

august 2023- you have a few more months prior to approval  - it is  average 14 months now for I30 approvals…then IL waits vary…. We are 4 + months post DQ with no interview yet in Montreal ….

some places are faster but some are slower

not the best news

"Actively reviewing" is a term they use to mean you are in the queue to be reviewed.  An actual human will actively review your case for less than 30 minutes, when you get to the front of that person's queue.

Goodness. This is soul-crushingly difficult. Had I known how brutal this wait was going to be, we would have remained unmarried and opted for a K1 instead. Even if it's more expensive in the long run, at least she could have been here by now. But our bed is made, so now we wait. Thanks for the information, kind stranger.

Some things at CIS need some refreshing. The estimates, the process itself. It's all bananas.

I am just paranoid about ours getting "missed" or something. To go so long with zero activity is brutal. But I know we're not the only ones.

Would not have made a measurable difference overall.  Manila also has quite the backup for interviews.

I know ….

the waits  all increased after we applied

it’s hard when you have a timeframe idea and it keeps getting longer and longer

19 months married - 5.5 long distance I’m so ready for this to be done

One bright side. If you go over 2 years married before she gets here, she'll get a 10 year green card instead of just 2.  That would save you some money and hassle.

bit doesn’t help much when you whole life is on hold !!!!

One of the challenges of the immigration process is managing life in the midst of feeling like life  is on hold. It’s not easy to do but the day its all done and you are together, the length of separation will be in the past. Look for ways to deepen your relationship despite the separation.. it can be an amazing time despite the difficulties.

Search this forum for discussion about submitting an I-129F / K3 for the purpose of possibly speeding up your I-130. It's a long shot but couldn't hurt and I attribute our fast approval to it.

And you should add your timeline to your profile.

That only helps if you file soon after the i130. The k3 has a different processing time and tends to get looked at quicker. If you don't do it within the first couple months then it's pointless.
