Adjustment of status, do we send evidence of marital life with the packet?

Hey, I was just about to send off my Adjustment of Status packet with forms I-485, i-864, I-765 and all supporting documents. However I came across some posts on visa journey that they received RFE over need to provide proof of marital life together? I thought the only thing we needed to send with the packet was a certified marriage certificate and then at the interview they would need more proof? I didn't see anywhere in the instructions to include evidence of marital life 

 

Should I be sending more evidence off with the adjustment of status packet? Any knowledge on this would be appreciated. Thank you

You should submit relationship evidence.  They will need additional relationship evidence at the interview - evidence from the date you submitted the I-485 to the date of the interview).  USCIS will need to determining if your marriage is genuine.

Ok thank you, I guess I will submit what I can for now for evidence, though I do not have a lot to give at this time.

We did not submit much for AOS.  By the time our interview was scheduled though, we had AMPLE evidence of marital life, financial commingling, etc.    

 

Send what you have now, and then set about to get both names on household bills, leases/titles if applicable, joint insurance, name spouse as retirement account beneficiary, etc and then of course file your taxes as MFJ.  USCIS realizes the evidence for K-1 AOS will be scant, so they expect you to bring it to the interview, plus submit subsequent evidence with your ROC when time for that.

 

Btw, we did not send any photos whatsoever.  We eloped and just had selfies for our wedding, but the immigration officer asked to see them at the interview.

We are about to file my wife's AOS from a K-1 visa and as you can imagine, there is mot a ton of marital evidence. We are sending everything that we do have at this point because it can only help with the chances of us getting approval without having to attend an interview. Good luck to you! Looks like we will both be November filers 🙂
