CO asked if we were already married because

At one point during my interview the CO brought up a copy of my I-129F (printed in black and white) and pointed out a photo where I was kissing my fiance at my friend's wedding and said seriously 'This photo looks like wedding, you didn't get married right?'

In the photo, I was holding bridesmaid flowers and my fiancé was wearing a suit. I was wearing a light blue bridesmaid dress and so were the rest of the bridesmaids in the background on the chapel seats, but because it was printed in black and white, the dress looked white so I could totally see where the CO was coming from.

Of course I said 'no I was a bridesmaid at my friend's wedding and said I had the original I-129F in colour'. But the CO didn't want to see it and moved on to other questions. ( I had front loaded and sideloaded and brought everything I could possibly think of being relevant to the interview. I didn't get to show any of it lol but I'm still glad I came prepared)

It went well and I got approved verbally after the interview, but wanted to let people know how certain photos might look in black and white ><

There are many other consulates where such photos would be the kiss of death to the petition.  You're very fortunate.

Yes, I feel really lucky, thinking about how things could've gone..

No, I sent the original I-129F packet with photos all in colour. The copy the consulate received was in black and white for some reason

Chalk it up to laziness by the bureaucrats that scan and copy packages.

Side, unrelated note: B&W photos are typically for 2 reasons:

1. if a photographer actually shoots in B&W on film, it gives a beautiful, grainy vintage look.  Less common these days and typically takes a high end photographer and some film processing and development that people don't want to pay for these days.

or (and more commonly)

2. B&W is a way to salvage a badly shot photo.  Can't get the colours correct?  Convert to B&W.  Shot on the wrong settings?  Adjust and convert to B&W.

So, B&W isn't "going back 100 years" and can be a preferred option.

But, then there's the OP's situation where the scan was in B&W ;)
