Congrats! 3 or 5 year rule? Did she go alone or with you?

Thanks! Since my wife is married to me as a natural born US citizen it's only 3 years to apply for a US citizen. 5 years if you are unmarried and a lawful permanent resident. Yes, I went with her because she doesn't drive yet! LOL!  But I had to wait outside till the interview was done.

Since my wife and I are married it's only 3 years to apply for a US citizineship. Unmarried lawful permanent residents have to wait 5 years to apply. I did go with her to her interview since she doesn't drive yet!! I waited outside for her to finish her interview. Just got a notice of action that her oath ceremony will be March 15! So the journey is almost complete.

This is not how it works. Anybody who is a resident for 5 or more years can apply based on 5 year rule, regardless how they got GC.

I applied on 5 year rule, even though I got GC based on marriage to US citizen and still married.

It's awesome that interview was quick and you weren't needed for N-400 under 3 year rule.

Congrats on oath ceremony!!!

So the wife went to her citizenship interview and only lasted 15 minutes. The Immigration officer never asked for any documents we brought to the interview. My wife answer all 10 correct question and now she passed! Oath ceremony will be within 30 days. One last time and she is officially done with Immigration services. I't been a long 8 years but it's been well worth it. Now her daughter will be here in 10 days from the Philippines so she's happy to have her daughter finally coming home here in Las Vegas. One thing in your interview just answer the questions and don't give too much details and you'll do just fine!!!

Great ! Congratulations to your wife!!

Not giving too much details regarding any personal question they ask. Is that what you mean?
Give succinct answers?

hope to get the same interview experience as your wife did.

If a question can be answered with "yes" or "no", say "yes" or "no". If a question asks about details, give straight answer.

Examples...

Good

- Do you live in San Diego?

- Yes

- How did you meet your spouse?

- At work

Bad

- Do you live in San Diego?

- Yes, I live at 345 Main St, for the past 3 years. I also have my brother living with me.

- How did you meet your spouse?

- Me met at CoolStuff incorporated while working there in 2017. At first, me and Maria worked on same project. But one time, after company party I asked her out and we started dating.

If officer needs details, they'll ask more questions. Don't try guessing why they're asking what they're asking. Let them lead the interview.

So in other words, don't elaborate on the questions asked. The less you say the better! I know some like to give their life's story but really just be as breif as possible and above all.... Be pleasant and smile!! Hope this helps.
