Guessing the email I just received is a scam and can be ignored? Definitely doesn’t look like a legitimate government address:

The Immigrant Visa Unit at the Consular Section in London encourages all immigrant visa applicants to register their appointment before attending the scheduled visa interview.

You are receiving this email message because our records show that you have not completed the registration process. To complete registration, please click on the following link ais.usvisa-info.com

If you do not complete this process prior to your interview, it may cause delays in the processing of your application.

Have you already registered your appointment? As @powerpuff said, you do have to.

So if you haven’t, that could be the reason for it - but if you’re unsure just use the official link to do so rather than any from the email.

The link you posted is the legit website for registering interview appointments, so I don't believe this is a scam, especially if you have not registered your appointment yet.

This is legitimate as others have said.  Here in Honduras if you don't do this, they will not let you into the embassy the day of your appointment,

Thanks all - hadn't spotted the tiny link on my interview email. All sorted now and got my medical exam booked in for next week.

One final question - does anyone know how long it takes them to return you Passport via courier? My interview is the 20th of November and really want to be back in the states for Christmas. But conscious that the longer I wait the more the flights are likely to be.

They say to allow 2 weeks, but it's usually quicker - mine was back in 4 days (interview Monday, passport with visa delivered Thursday). Just bear in mind that you could be put in to AP, so definitely don't book flights before you get the visa in hand, unless they're fully flexible.

Good luck.

My fiance had his in about a week - and that included him delaying it by one day on their website, having an issue with his medical that had to be resolved, and a weekend.
