OP, I have no moral opinion on vaccine waivers, but whatever you do, make your argument consistent.

IMO, I'd avoid the whole 'there were no vaccines when the bible was written' argument as neither were planes, trains, automobiles, modern healthcare, internet, tv.  And I'm guessing you and yours make use of all of the above.

Well certainly the Internet

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You say “there were no vaccines when the bible was written”, so that makes me wonder which part of the bible made people decide that they are against vaccines. That would be part that you can refer to if you want to apply for the waiver.

I'm not interested in bashing anyone's Religion. It was merely a point of example.

Out of all the religions represented in this community, it is Christians that post the most on this topic.  (And I am a Christian myself, so I am not trying to alienate you).  There is nothing against taking vaccines in the Christian religion.  it is a self-generated fear based on misinformation and social media hype. If you don't want to retake childhood vaccines, see if the Dr. will accept a titre test.  If it is the COVID vaccine you are worried about.... again there was a lot of hype about this.  If you don't want to take the vaccines, you can't immigrate, plain and simple.

Nice try.

Which religion are we discussing?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I am not bashing either, just trying to help but it looks like you’re not really interested in getting answers.

At this point, on the whole, I have been met with extreme negativity.  At least one person, not you, who wants to push their vax agenda on me.  Meanwhile, I've been talking to other sources who have some good solutions. Makes me wonder with that negativity how these people managed to migrate in the first place.  Also, if they hate religion and people who want to choose what goes in their body that badly, what are they doing on this forum.

I assume you are referring to me.  I am not pushing a vax agenda at all... I was very hesitant to get a COVID vax during the pandemic. I completely respect people that do not want vaccines. Sorry, you misunderstood my comment.  I am out of this conversation... so infurating when people choose  to misunderstand a comment.  And by the way your post was negative that is probably why all the comments appear negative.

I am still clueless as to which Religion we are talking about???

This is an immigration forum, not a religious or (anti) vaccination forum and the experienced members here have a lot of knowledge about immigration so this is why they are here.

The bottom line is that if you refuse vaccinations based on your religious or personal beliefs, it should not be very difficult to explain that part when you file for the waiver.

Do you have a Plan B in case the waiver doesn’t get approved?

Correct.  And it was never my intention to bring opinion on any of the above, unlike others.  Working on a plan B.

Hi,

I just wondered what it takes to get a religious exemption, in terms of what kind of religious text is accepted.  Obviously there were no vaccines when the bible was written, so I'm wondering what text would be acceptable?

Also, what are the chances of an exemption?  Are they common?

Thanks in advance.

Ralph

I’d like to add a positive note to this conversation and encourage you to apply for the religious exemption if this is something you feel strongly about. My husband and I filed for the exemption for him and his kids. It was just approved after seven months with no interview. They have taken vaccines before but I have always been against vaccines, and so we explained that now that we’re together that’s how we chose to do it. I don’t think it matters what religion you are. The head of our religion has come out publicly encouraging people to take the Covid vaccine, but we explained our moral convictions against taking the vaccines. We included a letter explaining our position, a letter from my mom saying that my family of origin has always been against vaccines, a letter from our priest, and proof of opting for the vaccine exemption for the kids for school. I could be wrong but in my opinion I think this is quite a bit like filing for an exemption for the school vaccines -there’s fear mongering around it, but you have the right to refuse. Explain your position. Submit any proofs you have. And don’t worry.

Many religions have a commandment not to harm ourselves or others. It’s pretty easy to make a moral case against the vaccines based on this.
