Hi everyone,

I am the USC who sent the I129F and it got approved from USCIS and went to NVC and got the case number in June of 2024. From there we were waiting when it gets transferred from NVC to the US embassy in Pakistan but in August I received an email saying that

Because Islamabad is not currently processing routine immigrant visa cases, the National Visa Center is holding your approved Form I-129F petition until they can do so.
We cannot predict when all visa services will resume, or when your case will be scheduled for an interview. However, when Islamabad is able to schedule your case, they will send you a notice with your appointment information.
Approved Forms I-129F have a 120-day expiration date from the date of approval by United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).
*       Once your designated embassy or consulate schedules your interview, a consular officer will revalidate your petition for another 120 days.
*       You do not need to take any action for this revalidation to happen. However, you may need to provide evidence that you still qualify for the K-1 nonimmigrant visa.

and this same email I received it again in October. I believe there is nothing for me to do at this point till i get further notice but I still came here to ask so i don't miss something or make any mistake.

At this stage that my case is what are the further steps for me??? I know i have to gather evidence for affidavit of support and fill out DS160 but when should I do that (since there are so many opinions on this)?? If I submit DS160 now and it is valid for one year then what if it takes longer than that to schedule an interview, should i not do it now??

I know the post got long but can someone please help me out and also point out if I missed something.

I do not know 100% if it is possible in this situation, but some people are able to change their embassy that they do their k1 at (afaik you have to have residency in the country you choose) but it is possible to change embassy.

I do not know if that would help you here or if you can do it, but I thought to comment in the chance that it does help you.

I wish you the best with trying to figure out your journey, I'm also so sorry you've been dealing with that!

This is correct. I wouldn’t fill anything out as simply there is no point to. Islamabad consulate is extremely backlogged.

I would look elsewhere which of course depends where she could get to.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

@apnzzand @Boilermy fiancé's country of residency is Afghanistan and I did get an email since there is no embassy in afghanistan, i can transfer somewhere else and his option was pakistan at that time

now seeing how bad the situation with pakistan is i was thinking of changing it to somewhere else but i am not sure if that is possible or if it's a good idea

As far as I know it is possible to change, but this can result in delays and no guarantee the requesting embassy will be able to get the case from the embassy it is currently at (I've seen people attempt to change and the desired embassy wasn't able to get the case transferred) and also I believe the beneficiary needs to have residency in the desired country. Other than that, I do not know that much about whether it's possible in your situation- I also do not know if multiple transfers is possible as I haven't ever read about that before, perhaps others can advise you more appropriately. :)

Look for a country where they can travel visa free first which unfortunately are not many for someone with an Afghan passport.

Good Luck!
