Reuired Length of Bank Statement and Utility Bills Needed for Removal of Conditions

Hello.

I am planning to file for removal of conditions next month and was wondering if I need to provide bank, credit card, and utility statement for every month since we started living together, or is it standard to send maybe every quatre.

If there are any general tips in document organization, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Opinions vary.  For instance we only provided redacted pictures of our shared credit cards with no statements.  As to utility bills, etc., we only provided the first page of one bill (most recent to our filing date) to show both our names on them.  Many people believe you should send each monthly bank statement of any joint account(s) to show any fund movement over the past two years or so.  We actually do not have any joint accounts, but rather are co-owners of each other's account, so I showed the CU page showing each of us as said co-owners.

 

As to organizing, just be sensible, providing a table of contents in the front, do not use tabs separating sections as USCIS will scan the entire package.  Also do not use holes or anything like that, just use a big binder clip, or use a good relatively tight envelope to keep everything together.

People did one or the other and both methods seemed to work.

 

Instructions say to send as much as possible from date of marriage to date of I-751 filing.

 

The most important things:

 

1) Keep it consistent. If sending monthly, send every month, don't skip months. If sending quarterly, don't skip quarters.

 

2) Do not redact statements. Don't blur out amounts, names, addresses, charges etc.

 

3) Send ALL statement pages .

 

Sometimes people get lucky sending redacted or incomplete evidence. If you don't want potential RFE, just follow advice from the points above.

I redacted account numbers, USCIS does not need my account numbers.

YMMV, but we only sent quarterly ones from the beginning of marriage.   Other items sent:  evidence of jointly purchased /owned vehicles, joint insurance policies, beneficiary info for retirement accounts, joint tax transcripts.

I used this outline for my data:

 

1.  Required documents

2.  Documents that proved we live together (lease, mortgage, utilities)

3.  Documents that showed we combined our financial lives (not every couple does this)

4.  Documents that show we do life together (joint gym memberships, for example)

5.  Documents that show we have planned for the future together (wills, Powers-of-attorney)

I sent one statement for every 3 months for bank accounts and bills etc

I mentioned in my cover letter to USCIS I have every month statement if they wish to see but didn't want to overwhelm them with excess amounts of evidence.

I was approved with no RFE, no interview.
