Beheaded rattlesnake still bites!

I know I've heard of snakes growing back after cutting them into...and that doesn't surprise me none..just a reflex more than anything..but still has enough venom in the fangs even if decapitated

Reminds me of a time a friend was cleaning a snapping turtle. A teenager was playing with the decapitated head and we both warned him it could still bite. Needless to say, channel locks were used to break the jaws off his fingers.

Good thing he wasn't poking it with something else!!

I thought it was common knowledge that the head can still bite. XD BUT THEN AGAIN. I did not only grow up in the south- but in the desert. And I also lived my entire life out in the county where there are hardly any people living so encountering snakes, coyotes, etc.

The nerves in the head of the snake don't die for a long time. There's a lizard out here that loses its tail if a predator bites/grabs the tail- and the tail will still move for the same reason. (I know this because I used to chase them when I was a little girl. Catching a tail and not a lizard was always disappointing... and gross)
