B2 visa to visit friends from a game I play regularly with

Hello everyone

I have been playing World of Warcraft with a guild and I am very good friends with most players in it. There is going to be a meetup in Omaha, NE, at the end of the month, which sadly I won't be able to attend. I renewed my passport and I hope to get a new visa so I can attend the next one, probably at the end of next year.

About me:

- I am Brazilian

- I have held a US B2/B1 visa from 2011 to 2021

- Didn't bother with renewing my visa when it expired because I was very focused on university

- I have visited Disney with my aunt in 2011 (paid for by my dad) and Las Vegas with my dad in 2014

- I have also been to Argentina before

- I just finished engineering school, and I am currently a full-time master's degree student

- I do not have income, but my family will support me during my academic studies, and they are very wealthy (my dad and my granddad are doctors and own multiple farms)

- My dad will pay for my trip

Do you think you guys think I should fear anything? I personally think them thinking I am trying to immigrate is stupid, because there is no way I would be better off in the US than I am in Brazil.

I see no issues so far. This is exactly what visitor visa is for.

Do you have a stable job in Brazil? Any assets there?

I do not have a job, as I am a full-time master's degree student. I get aid from the university, but it is not a lot of money. I have a bank account with about 20k dollars in it, but I would not be able to sustain myself in the US on my own for a long time. I do not have assets in my name either, but my dad's assets amount to about 2,500,000 USD, and my grandad's, much more than that.

Your relatives’ assets are irrelevant.   All you can do is provide info about your ties to Brazil and see what happens.   There is no guarantee or magic solution involved.

Sure, but that doesn’t mean you need to show their assets, does it?   If anything, you need to show that YOU have adequate funds in your bank account to fund your visit.

If your dad gives me 2.5M I won't touch it, I promise!

Jokes aside, this is not a solid plan. Might as well be interpreted as you planning moving this money to the US after coming for a visit.

If you didn't earn the money yourself it may be not a good proof.

The money that I have in my bank account is about 25k dollars and was what I was what I was referencing! The 2,500,000 is an estimate of what my dad's assets are worth (the person I'll inform will fund the visit in the online application)

Just apply and let us know how it goes. Good luck!

No one here will be able to give you that answer. It's up to the officer to make that decision. But since you've had one in the past and did not abuse it, I would say your chances are more favorable. I have a bunch of friends in Argentina/Brazil and if they've had a B2 before, they generally haven't had an issue getting another one.

The fact that you had a prior visa should help you on getting approved. Even though it has expired, I'll bet that you won't even have to go through the interview.

Just tell them who is paying for your trip, no biggie.

We just got approved for a Tourist Visa for my wife mother in law in Philippines, they asked her whom is paying for her trip, she answered we (Me and my wife) was paying.

Just answer the questions they ask, don't provide extra comments, or try to make small talk.

I thought you said you had a previous Tourist Visa, did they ask you about funding for your trip before? Or were you a youth?

Inability to pay for your own trip as a tourist can be seen a as a negative factor for visa approval. If the tourist cannot pay themselves there's greater risk of them working without authorization or overstay in the eyes of US officials.
