Wow! thats crazy. Did you go pick it up yourself?

To clarify, how long did it take until you decided to expedite your case? do you mean July 2024?

I don't think i do presently beside finance.

If i may ask, what was the main reason for expediting your case?

Pick it up?! No picking up from the embassy. That's what I was saying that since interview Sept. 6 till this moment I've not received my passport, even when visa was issued to me Sept.9. The reason presented to them was not taken anf they gave a counter statement against the reason in May but changed their minds to expedite the process for me June 30 and NVC sent my case file to the consulate July 1. Consulate scheduled interview August 8 slated for August 30, rescheduled interview on August 27 slated for Sept 6

Nothing on the website says you would be able to pickup your passport at the embassy. When you get to the bridge, you'll understand what to do. No picking up of passport or drop off is allowed directly at the embassy in Nigeria. You go through DHL/OIS. Your passport comes through these those two organizations

Not necessarily the consulate. From the link above: "We will alert you via SMS and email when your passport is ready to be picked up (see Step 1 for information about the required online registration for this service".

I'm not the OP, so it's not relevant to me. But just had a vague recollection I'd seen on VJ about people going to collect their passports for Lagos so checked the webpage above which seems to say the same. But could well be out of date info maybe.

You have to create an account on "AVITS: usvisaappt.com". Advisable to create the account once you have your interview date at hand; login into your account and register for document delivery. When they alert you that your documents have been sent, then you register with "OIS", login and navigate through the "Visa Application" icon to schedule an appointment to pickup your documents at OIS/DHL. It's a process I've been through, I learned in a hard way with delays. But no need dragging the matter, the embassy is open to all.

If your wife, the USC, is going through financial difficulty, how is she going to sponsor you? The USC can not be going through financial difficulty since they need to meet the guidelines and prove they have adequate funds to support the incoming immigrant. If you go the joint sponsor route, the person who is sponsoring should be able to help.
