Well, we finally got our big fat approval -- a total anti-climax after 6 long months, but a total relief for it all to be over. The embassy was total chaos (too many people, not enough chairs, many people effing and because of this) and the wait was terrible -- we waited 4 1/2 hours - you might want to bring a couple of novels. Himself was only only asked how long we knew each other, what he did for a living and when we got engaged and that was it.

Just a few points:

1. Medical was yesterday -- obviously approval is pending results being sent to the embassy, which we were told should arrive thursday/friday. We were told to allow 14 days to receive visa. So -- Fiona and others - if you want (and are able) to schedule your medical and interview near each other to account for one trip to London, you should expect this additional delay (fortunately, we accounted for this).

2. You are able to pay the visa fee at the embassy. They may have made an exception for us because they never sent us the paying in slip with packet 4. But (after me having a minor seizure over this) but it turned out to be no big deal at all. Obviously much better to pay it in beforehand, but not the endof the world if for some reason you can't.

So thanks for all the tips everyone -- I can remember when the whole issue of having to do this came up last July when it became clear that moving back to the US was going to force the issue of marriage for us and feeling completely lost and baffled by the options. I remember what a relief it was to find this website after extensive googling - I can't remember if my first question was "can he travel to the US with a K-1 pending" or "how much evidence do I need to submit" or "my photos don't have date on them, what do I do?"

So with that, in my thanks to you, I offer a suggestion for the new VJ theme tune, courtesy of Tom Petty:

Oh baby don’t it feel like heaven right now

Don’t it feel like somethin’ from a dream

Yeah I’ve never known nothing quite like this

Don’t it feel like tonight might never be again

We know better than to try and pretend

Baby no one could have ever told me ’bout this

The waiting is the hardest part

Every day you see one more card

You take it on faith, you take it to the heart

The waiting is the hardest part

Well yeah I might have chased a couple of women around

All it ever got me was down

Then there were those that made me feel good

But never as good as I feel right now

Baby you’re the only one that’s ever known how

To make me wanna live like I wanna live now

The waiting is the hardest part

Every day you see one more ca rd

You take it on faith, you take it to the heart

The waiting is the hardest part

Don’t let it kill you baby, don’t let it get to you

Don’t let ’em kill you baby, don’t let ’em get to you

I’ll be your breathin’ heart, I’ll be your cryin’ fool

Don’t let this go to far, don’t let it get to you

perfect song... for a woooooooooooohooooooooooo day!!! congrats!

Tho' lovers be lost, love shall not... and death shall have NO dominion!
