Bulky I-751 Application

Not to sound judgemental but WOW, that is a huge packet. We used an attorney and although I didn't count the pages,  it couldn't have been more than 40 or 50 pages at most. 

 

I would imagine whoever is doing the processing and they see a small packet versus a 700 or 800 behemoth, they will probably put off the big packet.

I do not see a correlation between packet size and adjudication speed. Not all evidence is examined page by page. 

Otherwise, small packet or big packet, I-751 form itself is what adjudicator looks at, and it's the same number of pages every time.

 

Whenever they need supporting docs, they open table of contents, look up entry such as: "Bank of America statements, page 12-100". They go to page 12, look at a statement or two and that's it, skip to next evidence such as utility bills. What page is that? That's page 304. Ok, got a statement or two from there.

 

There's no rocket science here, it doesn't matter if evidence is large, it would take similar time to review.

 

Now, if adjudicator suspects something, then yes they'll study everything. But again, they don't have to remember all the figures or all information from all pages. Just glance over it.

 

USCIS says in instructions to send as much evidence as you can.

 

Unless you're trying to guess what they want, you'd follow instructions literally.

 

I worked with lawyers for AOS and I-751. There was never a pushback or surprise about evidence I submitted, and there were hundreds of pages. Everybody in immigration is used to thick files.

It's the thick file without substance or thin file that brings attention.

Somewhere there is a photo that my husband took of our packet and it was probably that size. We put it in a USPS box it was so big! And yes we sent every bank statement, credit statement, and just about anything else we could think of. A lot of trees sacrificed themselves over the years. 😉

 

We used acco clamps/clips. No RFEs. No interview.

We were actually thinking of reducing the bank statements into quarterly or probably just send 1 year lease instead of 2 which are 100 pages already but seeing your inputs @OldUser, @Scandi and @yuna628 makes us just send what we already have and still go for the 3 inches packet. The only thing is we cant compile it yet because its bulky and since we cant use acco clips anymore. We're trying to look for thick rubber bands and a box where they would fit without getting loose. We're not yet sure how to do it since we already bought puncher and acco fasteners before we knew that its not preferred anymore. I think this is the challenging part right now. Any more suggestions on how to put together the bulky packet is really appreciated 😊

I'm not sure it's a good idea as you want to demonstrate living together for few years. Is lease doc really 100 pages? All my leases were under 10.

Just put the stack of paper nicely in the box. Why is this a problem?

Yes every lease doc we had is 50 pages each, we actually have prior years of lease but will be submitting just 2 years since its really thick and would probably go over 3 inches. Are 2 years lease enough? And that goes same with the bank, utility and credit card statements we include every page of it (althoug utility and credit cards are quarterly) that makes more than half of the packet.

We tried one box that is assembled, the only thing is if we put the tapes on the four sides they might have a hard time opening it, unless we try to find similar to a shoe box like smaller that would fit the packet with just a cover on top.

After you find a box close to the size of your packet, a thin roll of bubble wrap and some long (not necessarily thick) rubber bands would be enough to protect it in transit.

 

We sent monthly statements for everything and on some credit cards if we didn’t use them and no statement was generated for a particular month, we put a sheet in its place specifying that. To me, leaving out months just creates an information gap and makes it harder for the adjudicator to connect the dots. I agree with @OldUser that the form instructions are pretty clear on this. Even though we prepared our own packet, we did consult with a reputable attorney before submitting just to make sure we were on the right track and he also recommended including all evidence.

 

Edit: I wouldn’t be concerned about anyone not being able to open a taped box. I’m sure you can find a way to tape it so that nothing gets opened or damaged in transit while also being able to open the package with the appropriate tool.

1. Soft priory mail envelope. It will accommodate your stack and act as a ‘ binder’ . It can be easily folded , has self adhesive and will keep papers intact. After you seal it place it in :

2. Flat rate medium priority box ( the side loading one) .

Those are good options. We sent ours Priority Mail Express and if you use a USPS box I would recommend that. If using a different service you may need to cover up the USPS print.

Enclosing the neatly stacked papers in the ( free ) soft priory’s mail envelope before putting it in the box does wonders. ..papers don’t move , bend or get accidentally nipped at opening. 

‘The best part was the few times box was accidentally so crushed / destroyed that USPS returned it in a body bag 😂…the soft envelope seal saved the packets.

That is a 50 page ‘pain in the ..a-neck’ for the reviewing officer. You could ask rental office to write up a short Verification of Tenancy Letter for each year (it’s  of high value ) and just enclose 1st and last signature page of the leases.

 

Definitely do quarterly statements for bank/credit and utilities.

I think ours was ~120 pages and fit comfortably in a sturdy USPS Priority Mail flat rate envelope.  I just sent the big stack of papers held together by nothing but the envelope.

 

However, a medium size flat rate USPS Priority Mail box is page sized and 6" deep so that does kind of set a goal post to aspire too.😁  As the ads say, "if it fits, it ships".😁
