Hey all,

I'm Esther, first time here and posting a forum post. I'll be short and sweet so I don't ramble on.

I married my husband in August of this year, he's from the US and I'm from England. We're in the process of submitting our CR1 visa, we're not in a major rush, we're been taking our time, working a bit on it every other day as he works full time.

We're at the part where you submit evidence. I was under the impression, after reading many Reddit posts online, you could submit as much as you want, name them appropriately so the reviewer would know what each image/file corresponds to etc.

It says here you can only submit 5 at a time, and they don't allow zip files. I had all my evidence in different folders in a compressed folder, ready to submit.

In this section, it says you can only submit 5 files at a time and they have to be .jpg .png. .pdf etc

How has everyone done this that makes it easy for the reviewer? We really want to get this right the first time and make sure all the evidence we submit will be enough (fingers crossed). Would it be better to add images of everything into a PDF and submit that? Would be curious to learn what others have done in this section to maximise how much you can submit.

(sorry, I guess I did ramble on in the end, haha).

Yes, add images to PDF, 2-3 per page with annotations.

Date, location, occassion, who's on photos (full names and relation to you)

For example:

"01/01/2023, New Times Square, New Year's Celebration. Left to right: Samantha Brown (Beneficiary), Joe Smith (Petitioner), Jake Smith (Petitioner's brother), Olivia Chen (Jake's girlfriend)"

For my images, I created google slides for different events like Wedding, US weddings, Engagement, etc.  Everything else I submitted as a single file.

I suggest you to use a pdf file. Used a Microsoft word or google doc to compile and attach your pictures with annotation. Limit for each PDF file is 12 mb

I used my 4 files a Bonafide Marriage Photograph, I have between 9- 31 pages each depends on how clear and have each pictures and annotation.

1 pfd file for Affidavit of Proof which is affidavit of support in a bonafide marriage from family and friends make sure a least one of them is notarized.

I suggest you to gather everything already and upload and file it.

I applied last June 2023 I-130 petition even I only got married February 2023, they didn't open our case not until September 2023 (USCIS) got approve only last August 2024 for the petition not the visa yet.

exactly same for me. Created in word, saved as PDF. Did about 6 slides and around 4-5 pics on each. No issues at all

Being tech challenged, I just sent all my files on paper.  I just printed pictures at Walgreens and glued them to a blank page and added my written comments underneath.  I only sent 10 pics that I thoughts were of consequence.  It all go approved without issue.  Good luck.

This also works, though I would have photocopied this setup to ensure USCIS scanners don't get jammed due to photos detaching from pages. That's a good idea for people who don't have experience / patience working in Word.
