Hi,

I applied Novenber 29th,2023 for my wife. It is almost 11 months now. How long does it take to process this application. I had two months to take dicision and came down to one week , and now I see status or progress is written like , it is taking longer than expected but no explanation why taking longer than expected time.

What does it mean. I file I-130 online. How do I know where which field office is processing my application?

Is there any contact number or other way to communicacate with the field office. I applied online from Alabama.

Any nifo is appreciated.

Ignore the online processing time, it's notoriously inaccurate. I-130's are about 14 months, so you should hear early next year.

Then the processing time for the next step will depend on which consulate she'll be applying via.

Good luck.

I -130 is just to verify the marriage is legal or illegal or genuine. Why does it take so much time to get it approved.

14 months for just the I-130. And it's because there's a big queue of people ahead of you, it's not the actual processing time. If you fill in your timeline on this forum you'll get a more accurate estimate.

Then the NVC side of things is usually only 1-2 months after that (if you submit docs and pay fees quickly). As above, the biggest variable in the whole process is the wait for an interview - that can be as quick as 3 months, or as long as 2 years.
