There is definitely a possibility that the I-751 interview will be waived. That’s what happened when my wife and I showed up for what we thought was our combo interview, and the interviewer told us that my wife didn’t have to come in at all. I just did the citizenship test, and that was it. Everything was approved within a couple of hours after.

You will absolutely have to do the citizenship interview though.

another thing is what i'm curious about is if they give a tablet and multi choice answers for the test of 10 out of 100 questions in california or it'll be verbal? my friend in tennessee was asked verbally but i read most of the uscis offices are using tablets now. i'm ok with both but multi choice of course is a no brainer so that'd be more convenient.

also what's the sequence of things, and what's next? meaning 1: removal of conditions interview if any, 2: n400 "interview" for whatever they want to ask there, and 3: civics test?

so i walk out of the successful civics test (or whichever is the last step on the big day), then what?

thanks

There's several scenarios and nobody can predict how exactly it will go.

1) You can have I-751 decided before your N-400 interview and removal of conditions interview will never be conducted

2) They may do I-751 interview on same or different date to N-400 interview

3) You can have N-400 interview only and they'll tell you they can't decide on N-400 because of pending I-751, then will decide I-751 few weeks / days / months later with or without additional interview

4) They may conduct both interviews and give you decision same day with oath on same or different day

5) They would typically start N-400 interview with civics test followed by yes / no questions, or do it the other way round.

Either way, because you're applying based on marriage to US citizen, I highly recommend taking the US citizen to all interviews you're scheduled for.

I'm seeing "Interview Scheduled (current step)" step in my online account but no document showed up in the documents tab neither did i get a letter. Is this just bad wording or the online account is not reliable and the letter went lost? Two "bad luck" coincidences at the same time feel highly unlikely.

Previous step that is showing "completed" was saying about attending at biometrics (if necessary) but i got a letter that they will reuse old one. Next step after "interview scheduled (current step)" is "case decision (not started)"

I'm sure if i just not attend on a scheduled n400 combined with i751 they wouldn't be utterly happy and nice at the next scheduled one. Contacting them via phone is probably impossible and i'm not sure if the agent i can reach over the phone can see much more than i do.

MyProgress tab is very unreliable. Neither estimates nor current steps can be trusted.

Just keep checking online account and wait for physical interview letter.
